Summary
The Environmental Services Specialist is responsible for maintaining overall plant cleanliness and operating sanitation equipment and chemicals to ensure a safe, hygienic environment. This role supports compliance with company, regulatory, and industry standards, including SQF and GMP requirements, within a food manufacturing environment. The position requires strict adherence to sanitation policies and procedures while upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize production drains using appropriate equipment and chemical agents
  • Operate floor scrubbers and other sanitation equipment
  • Maintain cleanliness of exterior grounds
  • Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum floors throughout the facility
  • Clean windows, glass doors, mirrors, and other surfaces, including high areas
  • Collect and dispose of waste; clean and reline receptacles
  • Operate baler machine for cardboard and plastic recycling
  • Service and restock breakrooms and restrooms, including PPE and supply dispensers
  • Conduct routine inspections (fire extinguishers, pest control devices, eyewash stations, glass/brittle plastic)
  • Ensure sanitation programs and SOPs are followed to prevent microbial contamination
  • Maintain the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS) in an audit-ready condition
  • Perform administrative tasks as needed

Knowledge & Skill Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Prior sanitation experience in food, beverage, or related industry preferred
  • Strong time management and organizational skills

Working Conditions
This position operates in a manufacturing environment and involves extended periods of standing, walking, bending, twisting, and reaching. The role may require lifting materials up to 50 pounds and working with cleaning chemicals. Required safety equipment may include, but is not limited to: safety glasses, hearing protection, protective footwear, and seatbelt use where applicable. Loose-fitting clothing, sleeveless shirts, open-toe shoes, artificial nails & nail polish, and jewelry including piercings are not permitted.
